Hillside Terrace -
Currently under construction, this
New Hope, Pennsylvania garden features
a flagstone terrace with parterre gardens
and a secondary terrace with a fireplace
and water element.
The prior yard consisted of long steep slopes with little relief from the sun. By cutting into the slope, a level patterned flagstone terrace is set to create a destination away from the house. Tiers of stacked stone walls constructed of the same limestone found on the home’s exterior, nestle the terrace into the hillside. Surrounding the terrace with Kousa Dogwoods provides shade and seasonal interest.
Leading off the side of the main terrace, a path leads to a smaller irregular flagstone terrace with a fireplace, built-in wall seats, and long open views across the gardens.
